“ | The majestic Brasstead appears far away from Ethereal Island, on islands where the intensity of dimensional energy is high enough to stabilise multi-elemented Ethereals. Although seeing one is incredibly rare, its daily lifestyle is fairly regular. It drinks from its trumpet-like snout, sleeps, and does all the things a regular monster would do, with the exception of eating. How does that even work? Imagine trying to fit a slice of pie in a trumpet. That's how Brasstead eats. | ” |
— Monster Biography |
Brasstead is a three-element Ethereal monster with the elements Plasma, Mech, and Crystal. It was the first three-element Ethereal revealed, being released alongside Plasma Island on August 29th, 202X, the first day of the anniversary event in 202X, which was themed primarily around the Ethereals. Freever, Geudu and Wiasmr would soon follow each releasing on a Monday, then shortly after, the island's quad Drumsoulo on the 26th of September.
Description []
Brasstead is a three-element Ethereal monster. It resembles a seahorse, with a long serpentine body, and the mouth resembling a trumpet's bell and the tail resembling a trumpet's lead pipe and mouthpiece. The upper body is covered with blue, frizzy fur, and three valves stick out its back and its mouth. The rest of its body, as well as its eyes, are coloured golden.
Costumes[]
Red-Valved Seadeer[]
Brasstead gains 2 large reindeer horns, coloured dark brown, each splitting into two branches, which have extra branches coming from them. It also has beige reindeer ears, and the furthest valve on its trumpet turns red. It is based on Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, a character mentioned in a Christmas carol of the same name.
This costume is only available for purchase during the Festival of Yay, and first appeared in December 202X. Like other seasonal costumes, it cannot be unlocked through the Colossingum.
Song[]
On Plasma Island, it plays during the 4th and 5th sections.
Brasstead became available in My Singing Monsters: Composer on [unannounced] 202Y, along with the other three- and four-element Ethereals. Below are two C major scales in MSM: Composer, one with short notes and the other with sustained notes.
Breeding []
The Brasstead can be bred using a combination of a Single Element Ethereal and a Double Element Ethereal. The possible combinations are:
The success rate of any of these combinations is around 14%, or roughly a one in seven chance.

Trivia []
- This monster was originally designed in September 2014, and its design was revised in 2017. This monster's artwork was updated on July 25th, 2020.
- Although bearing a resemblance to Floogull, this monster's design came first.
- This monster was originally named Trumpony, and was posted on the My Singing Monsters Fan Fiction Wiki in 2014.
- Trumpony is one of the possible nicknames for Brasstead.
- This is the first three-element ethereal to be designed, and the first to be released.
- This monster was originally a Wublin before being converted to Ethereal.
- The scrapped monster Xyrafone also underwent this change.
- This monster's element was changed from Plasma, Mech and Poison to Plasma, Mech and Crystal.
- This monster, along with Drumsoulo, has an unused sound for Ethereal Island, implying that it once was meant to be there. However, the Monster Handlers revealed this was cut due to Ethereal Island lacking the aura required to keep more than 2 Ethereal elements stable in the same monster, as a lot of energy is required. Additionally, Wubbox and Rare Wubbox were already on Ethereal Island and would need their inventories edited, and Ethereal Island might not have been physically large enough to contain all 30 Ethereals, plus their rare and epic forms, and the Wubboxes and Dipsters.
- Brasstead's sound on Ethereal Island can be heard here:
Name origin[]
- Brasstead is a combination of brass (the alloy used in making brass instruments such as the trumpet), steed (being a seahorse) and lead (a metal).
